I like to tell people that we do not have to take life at face value. No matter what we are facing in life we can overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. The world is under the influence of a curse. The word curse means something that brings great trouble or harm. Jesus became a curse for us by hanging on the cross. We are redeemed from the curse. God has prepared a table before us in the presence of our enemies. The curse will try to come into our lives but we do not have to allow it to overcome us we have to resist it and wrestle with it. James 4:7 says Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The Bible says resist the devil not fight with him. We are no match for him in our own strength. The key is to submit ourselves to God. There is strength in submission. We see that principle more clearly in I Peter 5:8-9. (8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. (9) Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. The word resist means to stand firmly against. We resist in faith not our own strength. We refuse to be devoured by the curse that is in the world. Ephesians 6:12 says For we wrestle not against fleshand blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. So the we are wrestling but not against flesh and blood. The word wrestle means a struggle for mastery. The curse that is in the world is trying to master us and put us under it’s power. Let’s look at II Corinthians 10:3-5. (3) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. (4) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. We do not wrestle in our own power we use spiritual weapons that are mighty through God. We master the curse by casting down every thought, idea, or suggestion that it tries to bring into our mind. We win the battle by resisting and wrestling using our faith and weapons that are mighty through God. God bless.
