With everything that is going on in the world today I have come to one conclusion: we need help. I read today where gas is over $5.00 per gallon in California. It has become dangerous to go out in public and even to send our children to school. We are indeed experiencing perilous times. I am so glad that God’s children are not alone in dealing with the times we are living in. The psalmist Davis said this in Psalm 121:1-4. (1) I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. (2) My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. (3) He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. (4) Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. David knew where to look for help. The word help means to assist or aid someone to do something by sharing the work, cost, or burden of their situation. In other words, what we lack in ability or resources God will add His ability and resources to ours. Also, notice that the Lord does not sleep. Help was available to David 24 hours a day. Now let’s look in Psalm 30:10. (10) Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper. Help is a part of the mercy of God. Also, notice that the word help means assistance. God will assist us in our situation. Turn your Bible to Isaiah 43:2. (2) When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. God promises to be with us in the midst of the waters, the rivers, and the fire. God doesn’t promise to take the waters, the floods, or the fires away, He promises to help us through them without us going under or being consumed by the fire. Let’s look at Isaiah 43:2 in the Good News Translation. (2) When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. With God’s help we go through the waters and through the fires without being hurt. So then, when you are facing troubling situations know this: God’s help is available 24 hours a day and victory is just a prayer away. God bless.
